We attended the training session organized by the College of Property Administrators of Girona regarding the Appropriate Means of Dispute Resolution (MADR) in Homeowners’ Associations, pursuant to the new Organic Law 1/2025, which came into force on April 3, 2025.

This law has a strong civil procedural character and therefore will affect the stage prior to the filing of lawsuits. Its goal is to achieve the resolution of potential conflicts or disputes through non-judicial means by using Appropriate Means of Dispute Resolution (MADR), thus placing significant importance on prior negotiation between the parties. This law directly impacts legal claims or lawsuits filed by Homeowners’ Associations, including payment order procedures for the collection of community debts.

With the aim of presenting and clarifying which actions, precautions, and processes we must foresee as Property Administrators, +COMUNITAT attended a session led by the lawyer, member of the Catalonia Codification Commission and professor at the UOC, Alejandro Fuentes-Lojo Rius, accompanied by the legal advisor of CAFGi and lawyer, Ferran Martín Bou, who moderated the session.
